Question:
There is one song that really gives me the pleasure that I have a cd player with memory. It get’s skipped automatically. It ain’t annoying, but it just sounds like A LOT LESS than the rest. The album I’m talking about is the Joshua Tree. And the worst WORST song is Red Hill Mining Town. In the old days when I didn’t have a cd player but only cassette I was fortunate enough to have 90 minutes casettes only. When I got the cd recorded one song had to be dropped. The person who recorded dropped Red Hill. I am for ever grateful. Only 2 years later I decided to listen to the whole cd and I knew I hadn’t missed a thing!

Even when they : played it live, it still sounded like it was about nothing… It was supposed to be inane. They actually apologized when they played it live, which wasn’t too often. It’s just supposed to be a fun, nonsense song. I like it a lot, just ’cause it’s fun and so different for them at the time! – Colleen

Hmmmm…I’ve always loved the lyrics to Who’s Gonna Ride…? but never thought anything of it musically. Go figure. I’m still going with either Red Light, or Love Rescue Me (yeah, Vrard the lyrics are good, but there’s something in the style that it’s sung that just plain gets under my skin). — Hochachtungsvoll Erik – Hide quoted text — Show quoted text – Worst U2 songs of all time; Coming in at number one on the cheese factor is ‘If God Will Send His Angels’ Followed closely by ‘Whose Gonna Ride Your Wild Horses’ Both of this songs are pretty good musically, but the lyrics are the cheese. Ah, Allison. So very smart in some areas, and hopeless in others. First off, you had a chance to hear Trip live, you turned it down, remember? Second, you spelled ‘believe’ wrong. Third…no wait, that’s about it. I apologize for wasting space on the newsgroup, and yeah, tastes are subjective, but I will defend Trip until the day I die. Hopefully not anytime soon. — Hochachtungsvoll Erik – Hide quoted text — Show quoted text – I hate these topics where you have to talk about your own personal opinion because it doesn’t count. You have to please everyone or else. I *personally* don’t like TTYW. I am not saying that everyone must follow my taste in songs. If I were to hear this song live, my opinion may change. It did with Miami. I am not trying to be rude in anyway, just incase I came across that way. And I can’t believ that this topic is still in the newsgroup. (Oh and Erik, don’t you respond to this cause I will have to beat you up) Allison

You know Mr. Potty mouth, if you look really hard, you will notice that nowhere in this post was there a reference to Oasis. Take a couple of Mydol’s because we have a case of a PMS attack on our hands. Allison

I still can’t believe some people would consider HMTMKMKM or Hawkmoon as bad songs. I shutter to think what they consider ‘half-decent’ or ‘amazing’. As for War, extremely harsh, don’t you think? I’ve always thought it was a fairly strong album except for Refugee (which was so out of character it seemed forced) and Red Light (which is God awful). — Hochachtungsvoll Erik
I think ‘War’ is bombastic, over produced. I only can appreciate NYD and DM. As for the rest of the songs, they cannot get through to me. But that’s only what I think (luckily). — Wim The Art Of Being Useless "640K ought to be enough for anybody." — Bill Gates, 1981 What a Visionary, that man!!! Apple Forever
